How do I reserve a business name?

Non-registered entities can reserve a business name in Montana by visiting https://biz.sosmt.gov and selecting "forms." Under business forms, select the "Reservation of Name" form. It is not necessary to apply for a name reservation if you are concurrently filing a business entity formation or registration.
