What actions are prohibited for Montana notaries?

Notaries may not:
• Notarize their own signature
• Notarize records where they directly benefit
• Certify copies of official records unless employed by the issuing agency
• Provide legal advice unless licensed as an attorney
• Use the term “notario” or “notario público” unless an attorney
• Engage in deceptive advertising
