Why is my business status still in involuntary dissolution after I have filed all the annual reports?

Business Status, Annual Report

Filing all the missing annual reports alone is not enough to reinstate your business from involuntary dissolution. To reinstate your business, you must file both the required annual reports and the Reinstatement Application with the Montana Secretary of State.

Steps to reinstate your business:

  1. File all outstanding annual reports and pay any associated fees.

  2. Complete and submit the Reinstatement Application form online.

  3. Obtain a Title 15 Tax Certificate from the Montana Department of Revenue confirming all state taxes have been paid (this is usually required for reinstatement).

  4. Submit these documents and fees through the Montana Secretary of State’s filing portal.

Visit the Montana Secretary of State Business Help Center for detailed, step-by-step instructions and access to necessary forms. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the Secretary of State Business Services at (406) 444-3665.
