# The form indicates that my name is unavailable, but I have searched and could not find a business with the same name.

Name Unavailable
Business names may be considered unavailable not only because of exact matches, but also due to similarities with existing names. Montana law requires that a business name be "distinguishable" from other registered or reserved names to avoid confusion. This means that even small differences, such as abbreviations, punctuation, or suffixes (e.g., LLC, Inc.), do not make two names distinct.
